GOAL 4: THEORY & PRACTICE

Synthesize theory and practice within a dynamic and evolving information environment
Outcome 4C: Demonstrate teaching and learning principles in relation to professional practice

In LIS 720.01, Picture Books and Early Literacy, we were tasked with creating a presentation for caregivers or educators.  My partner and I created a caregiver workshop that discussed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and Every Child Ready to Read programs.

In this presentation, my partner and I focused on hands-on activities that caregivers could practice and take with them.  Our goal was to empower caregivers by providing them with resources and ideas for reading aloud to their children.  We do not offer caregiver workshops at my library, but this assignment gave me the knowledge necessary to introduce them in the near future.
